KitchenAid mixer at full speed

This was a satisfying fix!! Any kind of mixer, blender, sewing machine, or any kind of appliance that has a motor that can be slowed down. If it ever comes in and it’s running at full speed with no issues but refuses to run at a slower speed it is always always always the startup or switching capacitor.

These things have a limited number of cycles or switches or years until the fail, and they will always short out the switching mechanism. Luckily we keep a supply of these on-hand taken out from old items that had failed for other reasons but can swap in our supply of rated X2Y capacitors.
