Explosive microcontroller??

This was actually impressive. A small bluetooth audio player that wasn’t turning on and no life in it. Open it up and what do we see, but an actually violent exploded microcontroller? This is kind of impressive to be honest, I didn’t expect to see a microcontroller to be able to do this.
I can only assume that there was a DC/DC converter somewhere powering this micro that was very capable of providing a decent amount of current.
Something in the microcontroller shorted inside, and then all the current went into either an IO pin or the power pins for the micro, and resultant pop!
Fun picture though
