This was fun, somebody brought in the control board for a dishwasher where the triacs had violently exploded.

Looking at the pictures, it’s obvious one had a catastrophic failure, but then some of the other ones as indicated by the arrows have suspicious discolouration that I didn’t like. I ended up replacing all three of them, with the parts sourced online and when it was plugged back in it worked like a charm!

The pictures are fun because you can see straight down to the silicon as the explosion popped off the epoxy encapsulation of the IC
