Ryobi came in and usually for tools like this, the battery has failed and won’t provide any voltage. Measuring the battery and that was fine and still would charge, and still had above the nominal voltage so that wasn’t the issue.
Triggering the device and measuring on the motor terminals got no voltage, measuing the input to the trigger on the wires I can see the battery voltage getting to it. Deduce it is the trigger mechanism and probably the high power transistor inside that. It’s not worth trying to replace the transistor itself as there’s no markings on it, and the trigger mechanism is available online to buy so that’s what we went for
