Dodgy Screen on Voice Recorder

Customer brought in this voice recorder that had a “failing screen” - the screen had a series of lines that were appearing and a series of vertical lines that were never appearing on the screen and were always empty.

Immediately this told me that there was an issue with the matrixing of the screen and was either something to do with the pins of the multiplexer, or the connector.

Popping it open and giving the FFC a clean and making sure all of the contacts were nice and shiny gave the screen a much better connection and the lines disappeared entirely!
