Apparently this is a common failure for XBOX consoles of this vintage. When plugging the XBOX in, it would boot and have green lights and show all the information as if it was behaving but no signal on the screen! The HDMI timing IC is thankfully a nice and common chip and was easy to read the markings off.

I took the XBOX apart and de-soldered the HDMI chip with a lot of heat applied - 30cm x 30cm of PCB and with probably 6+ layers meant there was a lot of copper to heat up! How I wished for the infrared rework station I used to have access to at my old job, but alas I only had a pre-head and a hot air station!

Grabbed the new part from online for £11 and soldered it on and jobs a goodun! Very nice for it to work first try just to replace the chip, which was a bit of a punt
